Nuria Huélamo awarded by the BBVA Foundation


The second edition of the BBVA Foundation Aid for Cultural Researchers and Creators promotes 63 outstanding talents in 11 areas of science and culture.

The Aids have just been awarded BBVA Foundation for Researchers and Cultural Creators in its second edition. The grants, which are awarded in 11 areas of science and culture, aim to boost individual talent and are aimed at people who have a highly productive career and are in an intermediate stage of their career. The BBVA Foundation Aid to Researchers and Cultural Creators is a support for them to continue developing the high potential of their individual careers.

The grants cover 11 major areas of knowledge related to Basic Sciences, the Environment, Biomedicine and Health, Technology and Social Sciences, Humanities and Culture and the Arts. The 63 grants awarded will receive an average of 34,000 euros of allocation, with an overall budget of two million two hundred thousand euros. The beneficiaries have a period of one year to develop their project and have ample flexibility to manage the resources that are granted.

Nuria Huélamo, researcher at the Center for Astrobiology, has received one of the 7 grants in the Basic Science section, being the only astronomer. It is noteworthy that the competition to get these grants is high since 1,900 applications have been received from the best researchers.
