A mobile astrobiology laboratory visits several Spanish cities

The truck used by the Center for Astrobiology (CAB), joint institute of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) and the National Institute of Aerospace Technology (INTA), in research campaigns participates in the City Science project. This mobile laboratory, one of the most cutting-edge instruments of the CAB scientists, will visit eight cities belonging to the scientific dissemination project launched by the CSIC and the 'la Caixa' Social Work. In each of them, it will show citizens through various experiments what is astrobiology, as well as the scientific activity developed in the CAB facilities or in the various scenarios to which the center's researchers go (Río Tinto, Antarctica, Desierto of Atacama) to study on the ground how life evolves or adapts to extreme conditions, and to understand how it originated.

The activity 'Searching for life in the universe' invites both students and the general public to know from the hand of researchers of the CAB the equipment of the truck and how it is used. With the gloves on, the inhabitants of the Science City locations will also be protagonists for a few minutes of the experiments that lead to the study of the origin of life:
