Graduated in Biology from the University of Alcalá, I later completed a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics at the International University of Valencia. From the beginning, I have always been curious about microbiology, particularly its environmental branch—understanding what allows different microorganisms to thrive in such diverse, and sometimes even extreme, environments. I carried out both my undergraduate and master’s theses at the Royal Botanical Garden (RJB-CSIC), studying the bacterial community associated with the lichenized fungus Phaeophyscia orbicularis along an atmospheric pollution gradient. Currently, I have joined the Center for Astrobiology (CAB) in the Department of Molecular Evolution, within the experimental evolution group for viruses and microorganisms, under the supervision of Dr. Ester Lázaro. I am pursuing my doctoral thesis focusing on the selective pressure exerted by certain factors on the evolution of bacteriophage Qβ.
