M.I. Herreros obtained her Ph.D. degree in Physics at Complutense University of Madrid (Spain) in 2003. From 2003 to 2019, Dr. Herreros served as a researcher and Program Director at Centro de Estudios y Experimentaci\u00f3n de Obras P\u00fablicas (CEDEX), Spain. Currently, she is a researcher at the Astrobiology Center (CSIC-INTA) and Lecturer in Fluid Mechanics at Carlos III University (Madrid, Spain).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her expertise lies in the development of mathematical and numerical models applied to complex problems of Continuum Mechanics with applications in Planetary Geology: external geodynamical processes in rocky planets, impact cratering and hydrodynamics. In 2011, she co-authored the development of the meshless Taylor-SPH (TSPH) method: a new stabilized SPH numerical model for the solution of hyperbolic systems of PDEs, with application to shock waves propagation in solids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She has taken part in 26 national and international research projects, including several research cooperation projects in Europe, China and Morocco in the field of numerical modeling with applications to natural disasters and shock wave propagation in solids. \nNowadays she is a member of Europlanet Society, CPESS community, NASA\/SSERVI Analogs Focus Group and member of DART-Hera (NASA\/ESA) missions Impacts Simulation working group (WG1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
