She holds a PhD in Astrophysics from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM, Spain). She is an observational astrophysicist studying the formation and evolution of galaxies. Her research focuses on local analogs of distant star-forming galaxies using 2D spectroscopy to investigate their physical properties and provide constraints on the conditions of the early Universe. She has extensive experience in the data reduction and analysis of faint distant galaxies using different state-of-the-art instrumentation and observational techniques. She is also a member of the science teams of several instruments for current and future large telescopes, including EMIR at the Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC, Spain) and MOSAIC for the 39-m Extremely Large Telescope (ELT, Chile).
