THE CITY
Although Burgos oozes history, legends and art, this city has always been a relevant hub of development, commerce, exchange and interaction, i.e., of human activity. A cosmopolitan crossroad with universal vocation (indeed it was one of the most important commercial cities in Europe), it has wisely preserved its cultural and historical heritage without renouncing modernity.
Burgos is a unique city in Spain, since it combines three landmarks declared World Heritage Sites: the Cathedral (one of the prime examples of gothic art in Europe), Saint Jacob´s Way, and the Archaeological Site of Atapuerca (one of the most relevant research centres for human evolution in the world).

PROVINCE
Burgos province, cradle of Castilla and Spanish language, is constituted by a real puzzle of peoples, monuments and singular corners. With heterogeneous landscapes and climatic diversity, Burgos boasts one of the most diverse natural habitats of the European continent. Land plenty of history and legend, its varied towns are full of churches, hermits, palaces, monasteries, towers and castles that live together with impressive natural landscapes.
A good deal of villages keeps their medieval flavor, including Covarrubias, Frías, Peñaranda de Duero and Oña. Several Romanesque monuments are scattered all over the province, Santo Domingo de Silos Abbey being its greatest exponent.
