Dr. Pardo has made contributions to several areas of radiative transfer and remote sensing
mainly through developing the "Atmospheric Transmission at Microwaves" (ATM) model.
He has participated in a series of experiments aimed at refining our understanding of the
longwave spectrum of the atmosphere and the planets using a Fourier Transform Spectrometer
installed at the Caltech Submillimeter Observatory (Mauna Kea, Hawaii). Besides, he has
conducted studies using different longwave telescopes aimed at determinig the physical and
chemical conditions of Galactic molecular clouds and circumestellar enveloppes, achieving
a wide experience in the observational techniques involved in ground-based millimeter
and submillimeter astronomy.

From Jun. 16th, 2007, Juan R. Pardo holds the office of vice-mayor of his home town
(Fuentealbilla, Spain) and is in charge of education and culture. He is deeply involved
in numerous projects to promote culture among people of all ages (see "public service"
section on the menu bar).
