The ExoMars rover Rosalind Franklin is to be launched in July 2020 to look for signs of current and past life on Mars. A key instrument in her payload will be PanCam, a panoramic camera that will help establish the geologic context for the mission. PanCam includes a stereo pair of Wide Angle Cameras with multispectral capabilities, as well as a High Resolution Camera for more detailed examinations of rock texture at a distance. This talk will discuss the science planned for the rover, PanCam’s role in meeting the mission and science goals, and also how human operators interact with a robot explorer on the surface of another planet.
