Presentations

The conference is a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their research and to practice cross-disciplinary communication to an audience of their peers from different institutions.

Presentations guidelines

All presentations must acknowledge funding bodies and cover material as cited in the abstract.

Remember that the audience is cross-disciplinary and that your presentation should be accessible to all.

Posters

Poster sessions will be held on both conference days and will be available to view during session breaks and lunchtime in the exhibition space. In addition, there will be flash talks to promote posters content. 

Poster preparation:

  • Please print your poster in portrait format in A0 (118.9 cm x 84.1 cm)  size.
  • Diagrams or charts should be large enough to read at a distance of 2 m.
  • Order your presentation so that there is a clear narrative and make sure you include the background to your research, results and conclusions.
  • Group similar ideas together and label different elements to make it easy for the reader to follow the presentation.

On the day:

  • Each presenter is provided with a poster board, which will be marked with an individual poster ID. 
  • Posters should be put on display between 08:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on the firts day of the conference.
  • Posters must remain up for the entire conference. 
  • Presenters must be available during breaks and lunchtime. Afterwards please make sure you leave your contact details on the poster board in case someone wishes to discuss your research further.

Flash Talks:

  • This method of presentation allows for the best of both worlds, the exposure of a talk and the networking benefits of giving a poster. Flash talks are 4 minute presentations with no Q&A.

Orals

Oral presentations will be held on both conference days. Please check the online programme for the presentation schedule.

Please upload your presentation via the links provided by 5:00 p.m. 13th December 2023. If you are unable to upload your presentation before the conference, please email the organising committee in advance (confepredoc@cab.inta-csic.es). 

Oral presentation preparation:

  • Each presentation slot will last — minutes. This is comprised of a — minute talk and — minutes for questions and changeover.
  • The following file formats are supported:
    • Powerpoint 2016 (or earlier versions)
    • PDF (Acrobat Reader)
  • Prepare your presentation in advance to ensure it has a logical order and you can get through what you wish to say in the allotted time.
  • Avoid technical language and jargon. Ensure that your slides are clear, easy to read from a distance and avoid text heavy presentations.

On the day:

  • Please arrive in the presentation hall 10 minutes prior to the start of the session you are presenting in to run through proceedings, mic set up etc.
  • Presenters will be given seats in the front row in order of the presentations.
  • You will be given — minutes to present your work. Three minutes and one minute warnings will be held up to help you keep track of time and ensure presentations stay within the allotted time. 
  • The next speaker will be set up during your question time to ensure a quick changeover.
