IV SCIENCE DISSEMINATION VIDEO COMPETITION          I do research. I am CSIC

Marina Fernández Ruz: the Origin and Evolution of Life

This video offers an exciting and accessible look at one of the most fascinating topics in science: the origin of life.

Despite the great advances that have been made in astrobiology, the origin of the first cells in the early Earth remains an open question.

Aquí te explico cómo se enfoca el problema a partir de la evolución darwiniana y por qué la química del medio interestelar juega un papel fundamental.

María Ruiz Pérez: What’s the weather like on Mars?

The space race continues. And Spain plays an important role in it. I, María Ruíz Pérez, explain in this video the application of Planetary Sciences in space exploration as well as in the search for our origins. It also informs society of the technological and scientific capacity that exists in Spain. Spain is currently the only nation with three meteorological stations on another planet, Mars. Mars and the Earth have many characteristics in common. Understanding the evolutionary development of Mars allows us to understand the nature of the Earth. Furthermore, knowing the Martian environment is decisive for the success of space missions as well as future human settlements on Mars.
