Star and Planet Formation

After defending his PhD thesis on January 2012 at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Ignacio completed post-doctoral stays at Clemson University (USA) and the University of Leeds (UK). After several years abroad, Ignacio was able to return and establish at CAB from the senior program “Attraction of Research Talent”/Comunidad de Madrid and, more recently, from the “Ramón y Cajal” program.

Ignacio’s main scientific interest is the study of stellar and planetary formation, specifically, the gas and dust “protoplanetary” disks that surround the stars when these are young. To this end, Ignacio makes use of a variety of observational techniques such as photometry, spectroscopy, spectro-astrometry, interferometry, and high-resolution images with ground- and space- based telescopes.
