Evolutionary systems and complexity in Astrobiology

In this (non-technical, don’t be scared!) talk I will try to convince you of the utility of Complexity theory as a bridge between some of the different disciplines that give rise to Astrobiology. In particular, I will address:

(i) The possibility of establishing a general framework for analyzing processes in which different agents organized as complex networks compete for resources, either in constant or changing environments.

(ii) The actual usefulness of this theory in astrobiological problems. Some examples will be the development of a digital model for the origin and evolution of life, or the analysis of the evolution of RNA sequences and viral populations. Other potential applications will be welcome!
