Does this planet have a sibling sharing the same orbit?

A study led by the Centro de Astrobiología (CAB), CSIC-INTA, has found what may be the most robust evidence that pairs of planets can form by sharing a path around their star. In the orbital path of one of the two youngest known planets, PDS 70 b, a dust cloud up to twice the mass of our Moon has been detected.

En la imagen se muestran como puntos grises todos los planetas descubiertos con el mismo método que CARMENES, pero con otros instrumentos. Con los datos recogidos en el período 2016-2020, CARMENES ha descubierto y confirmado 6 planetas ‘tipo Júpiter’ (con masas más de 50 veces la de la Tierra), 10 ‘Neptunos’ (de 10 a 50 masas terrestres) y 43 Tierras y supertierras (hasta 10 masas terrestres). El eje vertical muestra el tipo de estrella sobre la que los planetas orbitan, desde las enanas rojas más frías y pequeñas hasta estrellas más brillantes y calientes (el Sol correspondería a la segunda desde arriba). El eje horizontal da una idea de la separación del planeta a la estrella, al mostrar el tiempo que tardan en completar la órbita.
